Teeth Whitening / Bleaching
Teeth whitening (also known as teeth bleaching) is becoming more and more popular, as dentistry has advanced and can whiten most teeth. The two ways in which this can be done are either:
- at home as you sleep
- "power bleaching" done at our dentistry
With home bleaching, a chemical gel containing carbamide peroxide is placed in a special tray onto the teeth and works while you sleep. This is said by most to be the best technique in teeth whitening.
Power Bleaching most often only requires one single appointment. The teeth are isolated and a bleaching agent, which is quite powerful, is put on the teeth. This process immediately lightens the majority of teeth.
The Teeth Whitening / Bleaching Procedure
In the first dental appointment, impressions of both the upper and lower teeth are taken. From here, custom gel holding appliances called bleaching trays are manufactured.
In the second appointment, these trays are fitted. The dentist will then give you a special bleaching gel and instructions on how to apply it and how often this needs to be done.
Within two weeks the desired aesthetic results of whiter teeth will be visible.
